Welcome to Honey from the Rock!
I’m glad you’ve found your way here and I pray you are encouraged as you look around, listen to the podcast, and read my blog.
My name is Carrie and I’ve been wanting to do something like this podcast and blog combination for more than ten years. In fact, I’ve had many starts and stops.
Why?
Many reasons. One of the biggest was fear. (And still is, to be completely vulnerable.) Jesus has had to work a lot out of me and pour a lot into me. I’ve walked through much joy and grief, loss and abundance. Now as I look down the road of my forties, the time is right for me to share how Jesus has shown me who He is, the power of His Word, and why the Gospel is exactly what it proclaims to be: good news to a weary world, in bondage to sin and in desperate need of the freedom found only in Jesus.
My prayer is that this corner of the internet would bring glory to the Triune God, honor the Bible, encourage disciples as they walk with Jesus and draw us all ever closer to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
What I Believe
I believe in the Triune God, one God in three Persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (John 5:19-24, 14, 15, 16)
I believe that the Bible is God-breathed and is inerrant in the entirety of its original manuscripts. It is the final authority that speaks to how men and women are to conduct themselves in this life and the consequences for rejecting the Lord’s way of life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, John 14:6, 1 Timothy 1:8-11)
I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, come to save men and women from their sins. He is both God and Man. His sacrifice on the cross is the only perfect sacrifice that brings reconciliation to us. I believe that He was crucified, died, was buried, and resurrected on the third day. That He ascended to the right hand of the Father and one day He will return. On that day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. (Isaiah 9:6, Philippians 2:5-11, Luke 23, John 20, Matthew 16:24-28)
I believe we are all sinners separated from the Triune God by our sin nature. I believe it is only through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ; the power of His life and Blood, that cleanses us from our sins and transforms us into His likeness unto the salvation of our souls, by grace through faith, that we would then do His will. This is accomplished by picking up the cross Jesus appoints to His disciples, losing our life for His sake and the Gospel’s, dying daily to ourselves that Jesus would resurrect within us. (Romans 3:23, 1 Timothy 1:15, Ephesians 2:8-10, Mark 8:34-38, Galatians 2:20)
I believe in the establishment of the Church, a worldwide body made up of disciples, gifted by and unified in the Holy Spirit, all working toward the Great Commission given by Jesus before His ascension: to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them all that Jesus Christ has commanded. The purpose of the church is to make Jesus Christ known throughout all the earth by the preaching of the Gospel, to make disciples, help them grow in maturity in the Lord, and to see the name of Jesus proclaimed by the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God the Father. (Ephesians 4, 1 Corinthians 12, Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Corinthians 4)
I believe in the bodily resurrection of those who belong to Jesus through salvation to the resurrection of life and of those who have rejected Him to the resurrection of eternal damnation. (Matthew 25:31-46, John 5:25-29, 1 Corinthians 15)
